About Alia Varsano

Professional gemologist and former fashion model Alia Varsano recently made an appearance on The Nate Berkus Show to talk about how people can cash in their gold jewelry. In her lively and well-received demonstration, Alia Varsano appraised the jewelry belonging to three different audience members while discussing assessment methods such as performing a magnet test, finding karat markings, and looking at tarnish. As the Worldwide Director of Contemporary Jewelry for Phillips de Pury & Company, Alia Varsano oversaw jewelry auctions for the esteemed New York City auction house, and also functioned in a legal and marketing role. The history of the Phillips de Pury & Company dates back to 1796 and includes auctions of the estates of such celebrated historical figures as Napoleon Bonaparte and Marie Antoinette. After enjoying a successful career as a fashion model, Alia Varsano enrolled in Columbia Law School. As a law student Alia Varsano excelled academically and was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar in recognition of her scholastic achievements. Since earning her Juris Doctor, Alia Varsano has held several executive positions for international companies, including Yorkshire Global Restaurants and Phillips de Pury & Company. Alia Varsano has regularly supported several charitable causes, and in 2007 she decided to take a greater role in humanitarian work by accepting a position as a Partnership Advisor for the United Nations. As a Partnership Advisor, Alia Varsano creates philanthropic alliances among businesses and foundations for the purpose of managing projects supported by the UN Fund for International Partnerships. International humanitarian causes for which Alia Varsano fosters support include children’s health, women and population, the environment, peace efforts, security, and human rights. In her capacity as philanthropic advisor, Alia Varsano brings together her myriad talents as spokesperson, lawyer, and business developer for the benefit of the common good.
